The short version of the story I looked at how consumers consume fashion design concepts. I believe that in order to understand why certain trends take hold, you have to look at what was driving popular culture at the time. I walked through the history of fashion pointing out the driving force or controller of culture at particular moments in time. This was one part of a three hour presentation on fashion. The presentation was done for Peter Coughter’s Cultural Explorations class. The presentation went through four phases of fashion: inception of the creative concept, production of the goods, consumer adoption of the concept/look (my part of the presentation) and the dissemination of the concept into other industries and parts of culture.
